These people are dangerous because a beginner has no basis to make judgments on the truth of what they are saying as someone who has a few years, or decades (ahem) under their belt. So lets look at who these characters are and why you should avoid them.
The Drug Users
No I am not going to go on a tirade against drug use. The reason you should avoid those lifters who are on steroids is because what works for them will simply not work for you.

This should be self evident but let me explain.
When a guy or gal uses steroids they have altered their hormonal structure to such a great extent that – as far as bodybuilding is concerned – the the word normal no longer applies to them.
Why? Because a body on juice has been given an super capacity to recover that the non drug assisted body will never be able to achieve. This super capacity to recover means that a person can train like a maniac and hardly come close to outstripping the body’s ability to get things back to normal. Said another way, a body must first recover from all the stress of exercise and even daily life, then it can move on to super compensation (building more muscle) For the drug assisted bodybuilder this recovery ability is crazy fast. So why avoid these guys and gals?

Perhaps the most nefarious of all problem personalities are those who publish our beloved muscle mags. These people are perhaps THE worst source for any good information. They are in a business, bottom line. This means that they will peddle any information that will sell magazines.

Now let me say that I love reading those rags and enjoying the pictures just as much as the next guy, but even after years of successful bodybuilding those writers can get me excited and start questioning what I KNOW to be true. Hype is addictive, so the best solution is to avoid it.
Get yourself some solid training information from people who have built a body that you truly admire, and have done so naturally. They can help you cut through the hype and get to the real stuff that delivers the goods.
Supplement Pushers
Ok this last group of people of people are perhaps the most bent of the group. Not only are they business pros looking at selling anything that will turn a dollar, they will completely misrepresent to do so. They knowingly take drug using bodybuilders, parade them on their ads and say that taking their special creatine matrix gave the pro that body.
Lies and deception.
Juice, HGH, IGF, and host of other drugs ( and perhaps good training) gave that pro the body you see.
The worst part is that they are not just selling you information like the magazine publishers they are trying to get you hooked on their products which are sometimes experimental at best.
